The SRP Approved Supervisor Directory was first implemented in 2012, on a 5-year renewal basis. Effective June 2017, all psychologists applying for Singapore Register of Psychologists (SRP) must be supervised by SRP Approved Supervisors for the supervision hours obtained beyond those completed during their post-graduate training.

In 2021-2022, the SRP Supervisor Sub-Committee conducted a review of the existing criteria and proposed changes to these criteria to better align them to international standards. A survey from experienced SRP Approved Supervisors from the public and private sectors, ministries and institutions was conducted to ensure relevance to the local context.

In March 2024, the SRP Supervisory Competency Framework was launched by SPS to:
  • Aim to establish the competencies of supervisors in Singapore by identifying the key domains required for effective supervision of psychologists such as clinical, counselling and educational psychologists
  • Acknowledge the critical role of supervision in maintaining and enhancing effective and ethical psychological practice in Singapore
